  1. I've been listening to the 4th of July special announcements. First, thanks for thinking of original specials, like this America/US/USA in the title, Top 40 hits of the Rolling Stones, etc. that Casey Kasem never did during the run of AT40.

"Extra" request: I know that in your special there is no way that Rick Springifeld's 1974 live-recorded hit "American Girls" would make your special countdown, because it only peaked at #98 on Billboard's Hot 100, but it got a lot of local airplay on KTKT Tucson in the summer of '74 and reached #17 on our local Top 30. It's a great sounding record, and I think it would have been a Top-40 hit if only Rick had built his reputation in the 70s. I realize he needed General Hospital to get his #1 hit "Jessie's Girl" onto the charts seven summers later. So just call it a request.

Time Warp Top 40 bears out one fact that the oldies stations often do not: that the Top 40 wasn't all rock 'n roll just because it was the Rock Era. Artists such as Dean Martin, Vic Damone, Bert Kaempfert, and Patti Page were still being bought by the "older generation" and thereby making the bygone radio format "Middle-of-the-Road" (MOR) quite popular in that period covered by TWT40.

  2. Kevin,

Thanks for being a friend of the TIme Warp Top 40. I did read your email you sent to me the other day also and was going to write you back as soon as this weeks show is done. Look for the email very soon. The only way this show will grow is because of people like you tuning in every week. Spread the word to all you friends and family and request it at your local radio station.

    Glad you like the show.
